kena verbally abused by patient who wanted to buy GTN and I was asking more about his usage when he "KNN"-ed and "CCB"-ed me. when I took the meds out to him and advised him again to see Dr if he's been taking it often and he said I'm 罗嗦 and even stared at me when he was making payment at the cashier.
some patients just want to show that they're great and all others are wrong no matter what they do. it may be just a way of doing things because they know others will give in when they make noises... and indeed I gave in, because I do not want to get involved in a argument with him when we're already so busy...
and there's a suspected theft today. had to ask the customer to show wat's in her bag... did not found anything but we suspected she threw the loot away when she knew we're already observing her...

Housing...
I think HDB is very tough on us...
Housing loan is very little based on our past 15 months CPF contributions...
and we cant qualify to apply for 3 room as our income exceeds 3K...
so what do they want us to do...

Customer Service
yes, I put in the name of the shop, I think they deserve the "publicity"
Some weeks ago, I had a very bad experience with a computer shop in Funan IT Mall.
I bought my laptop from Comex 2009 and it's from this computer shop called Juzz1. They promised of a Mcafee antivirus of 1 year.
After installing the antivirus, i realised the subscription is only for 1 month! so instinctively, I called Juzz1 and asked for the guy called L who served me during Comex. He told me to contact Mcafee without asking too many questions.
So, I called Mcafee and was directed to the customer service line in India. The person asked me to email his supervisor my invoice so that he can assist me with it. The supervisor said that the invoice did not state that the subscription is for 1 year, even though I took a picture of the product itself. Mcafee refuses to extend my subscription (although I think they know that my product should be a 1-yr subscription since I think they should be very familiar with their own products).
SOOOOO I called Juzz1 again and L said it should be highlighted to the Mcafee vendor but L was going overseas and asked me to contact B to follow up with the case. I emailed B, thinking that L would have sort of told him about my case after telling me to contact B.
I had to email B twice to get his reply by email and since I did not hv internet connection during my nursing home visit, I called to check up on the email. B sounded hostile and said that he did not know what product I was talking about and sounded as if I was a goondu. He advised me to bring my laptop to Juzz1 so that the guys there can help me take a look first. I felt it was rather inconvenient that day as I did not have my laptop with me and I have to travel from Tampines (nursing home) back home and to Funan. I was quite appalled he said a sentence "if you dun bring to the shop, how do you expect us to help you." I also found out that by this day, L was already back from overseas and it was already my last day of Mcafee subscription, and you see, I've to email twice to get B's attention.
So I had to bring back to the shop that day as it was already the last day of the subscription. The guy at the shop helped me with my laptop. He did stuff on my laptop without explaining to me what was happening, so I had to prompt him to ask what happened and he was short in his answers. After a while, he became quiet and I walked around the shop. He was interrupted by another customer so he was serving 2 customers (me and another one) at the same time. I was okay with it as long as he get my problem solved fast.
After a while, he restarted my comp, and he was serving the other guy. I did not know what was happening to my comp so I was still killing time walking around the shop. and then, i buay tahan and walked up to tell him i'm going to the toilet. after that, i walked around the shop for another 10 min. My laptop was on batt so i was concerned whether i need to change to cable so I asked him and he said IT WAS ALREADY DONE! hello, i had already killed like 20 min without knowing that my laptop was done long ago...
I was rather pissed with the whole experience and packed up and stormed off. I wrote a feedback to Juzz1 which they did not reply.

what went wrong:
- L prescribed a solution (a wrong one) before diagnosing. He could hv asked me to bring to the shop first before telling me to go 1 whole loop with Mcafee.
- Mcafee did not extend subscription based on goodwill even though I specify my product through the photo and I even insisted a few times that they should extend. This did not happen last time when I was using Norton, the Norton customer service last time just did a remote access to extend the subscription.
- L should have informed B about my case in order to avoid confusion at B's side.
- B failed to see the urgency in my problem and did not assist me until the last day of subscription.
- B was hostile to his customer on the phone.
- That guy at the shop did not interact with his customer when the customer was interested in learning how to troubleshoot on her own.
- That guy at the shop did not update the customer when the problem was solved, and the Juzz1 did not reply my feedback to show that they've followed up with the problem.
- I should have insisted that Juzz1 solve my problem instead of going through Mcafee.
- I'll use Norton after Mcafee expires.
- I'll be an unreasonable customer next time as I think it'll help in solving the problem fast. HAHAHA.
- Keep talking to quiet computer guys when they're troubleshooting for you, talk until they talk.

From Sodagreen's new album, written by Qingfeng...
Dionysus walked across
the Tropic of Cancer, his pain and ecstasy is on fire, while the human body keeps growing, and yet ones mind and soul keep dying.
By the smell of grapes, (?!??!)
its going to rain...
Dionysus let it rain
without reason, all the indulgent desire had been unbuttoned. Our wisdom can only control all the animals, but humans.
They all become dolphins... (?!?!?!)
Dionysus had come and
gone with the red afterblow, in the long hot summer day, he shouts his name:
We won! We won! The glory
belongs to us and no one!

I bought a new lightweight laptop with a 9-cell battery at Comex 2 weeks ago...
and then just when I was into my 2nd week of my Thinkpad X200 use...
my boss told me she wanted to get laptop/netbook for the nursing home pharmacists...
and I've to reject her.. cos no use to duplicate an asset to look after..
timing timing timing.

Smoker young gers
(Blogger is getting cranky... when will the problem be solved?)
I dun understand why some young girls who look like they're students like to put cigarette sticks between their fingers and puff away... they're too young to understand how much dirt they're sucking in?
I cant stand haze and air pollution. I wonder how come they wan to suck in tar, carbon monoxide and nicotine plus some dirt and soot into their lungs in a high concentration...

Crazy
Some unreasonable patients can let me forget about "Good Customer Service". That guy kept insisting I should supply him a "prescription medicine" cos the doctor has given him before... hello, the dr has prescribed to u before doesn't mean u've a prescription now by showing me the invoice last time... I must admit I'm not a good example of customer service.
I think there should be some public education about the 3 categories of drugs:
1. General Sales List e.g. Panadol
2. Pharmacy sale e.g. Clarinase
3. Prescription meds --> and it's really "only supplied with a valid prescription", not suka suka bring invoice let me see...

Bonded Scholarships
I read this
I was so glad I did not succeed in the PSC/DSTA interviews years ago after my A levels. I couldn't imagine doing an admin job which I've no interest in, or some other projects which I once thought I liked, but not anymore...
Pharmacy opens up more windows than these scholarships which do not support healthcare degrees.

SHAPE run sux
Logistic was really bad. not enough signage to show us the distance and the different sections e.g. Baggage and Finisher's Medal. Only got 5km signage along the whole run. The most "amazing" thing is "the finisher's medal is out of stock" when I went to collect... I was abit late cos I wasn't ushered to collect the medal. Only when I finished collecting everything, I asked the usher. There were no tents set up so everything was inside Millenia Walk. No place to do proper cooling down and no place to eat our free yoghurt. We were asked not to sit on the floor of Millenia Walk even though we were not blocking anybody and I was so pissed that I told the "helpers" who asked us not to sit "we need to finish off our yoghurts before we can carry our things away". That's the truth, I've 1 big bag of barang and the goodie bag which was not mine (cos i'm only supposed to replace somebody in the run). And yes, the goodie bag queue was so long and blocking everywhere as it curves in and out of everywhere.
I'm going to boycott SHAPE run (in addition to my boycott of SAFRA run)
I'm sooooooooooooo tired.
==================================
Some updates:
1. I've met the most paranoid patient. She's afraid that she'll faint when she walks to the market when I explain to her the probable hypotensive spells during the 1st 2 weeks of hypertensive meds. I spent 10 minutes talking to her on a single Nifedipine LA 30mg, and she wanted to talk to another staff who spent 10 min on her (she even ask whether the blood test will be painful and my colleague told her it'll be like an ant bite)...
2. I'm happy that my company has plans for me. I also presented our discussion during Strategic retreat to my boss and colleagues whom I dun really noe. Strategic retreat was at Furama Riverfront and I think it was quite well-planned as things go according to the timetable quite tightly.
3. I went for a FOC vocal class :P
4. I saw Yokes' rebonded hair.

It started with Felix asking me "have you seen a bimbo before?" and then he showed me this RazorTV clip
The way she talks make me shudder and wonder how come she can make it to Miss World Singapore... So bimbotic!!!
And I dun like the way she says "it's all about me". This self-centred girl just dun deserve to be a "Miss World Singapore".

Bought this seasoning which my Ah Pek cousin recommended.
The outcome: not too bad! hehe, at least my family luv it :)

And I shopped yesterday with Ah Pek cousin at Orchard. Power Packed day
Today had a Power packed day of work work and work..
started the morning with packing/looking at the waiting time screen. dispensed a few when the waiting time turned too long or baskets started piling up.
after the mad busy period, nearing noon, picked up the assignments from my PA (who's doing PT course) to mark.
Medication counselling for a confused and dementic lady for half hour! and not yet done, asked her to bring the rest of her meds at home to let me sort out in the afternoon...
NUS student's presentation during lunch time. Gobbled down lunch later as I found out that lady was back and waiting for me...
Another half hour of medication review for her, sorting out meds, packing and relabelling for her. Even threw away some of her old ziplocks and 1 dunno whether expired chlorpheniramine.
Went through PA's assignments with the PA.
A few Pharmacy-only meds sale...
Went through some procedures briefing for e-HOR and Drug Recall.
(arrowed to) write e-HOR report for HQ.
handed one more stack of PA's assignment.
and then i realised it's past my official end time. go home :P
ran/celloed/bathed. when i bathed, i thought it's Tuesday today, until i realised it's Wednesday and tmr is Thursday.
tmr i'm going to cover floor at Woodlands branch.

Cello lesson
Me: For me, I practise only half hour, then i sian already.
Cello sensei: Huh! Nooo need to practise more. My student who took Grade 6 last yr practise 1 hour everyday and she got high distinction. For Grade 6, you need to practise one. I practise everyday, 1 hour for scales, 1 hour for studies and 1 hour or sometimes more for songs. So more than 3 hours a day.
Me: I practise 10 minutes for scales, 10 minutes for studies and 10 minutes for others...
Cello sensei: -_-

Fruitful day
After jogging today, I was flipping thru the newspaper and saw Liang Court Audio House having a Grand Opening Sale. There're some good deals for cameras. I was aiming for the $199 camera (Casio Exilim with some freebies). However, only limited sets. Went there anyhow and found out that Singaporeans are indeed kiasu haha - the Exilim ones all wiped out le haha. So got myself the Olympus FE-3000 for $258 with many freebies.
The freebies including:
Lens clearning kit
4Gb SD card
Mini tripod
Extra battery
$40 dining voucher (not in picture)
All for $258!

Paper towels
How many paper towels do you pull out from the dispenser in the toilet to dry ur hands?
From observation, I realise that people pull out at least 2. Average of 2 pieces, and sometimes even 3. This is an observation I made from the Pharmacy toilet. Mostly girls, hands cant be too big.
For me, after I wash my hands, I flick some of the water onto the sink and then take out 1 piece of paper towel to dry my hands and tt's more than enough.
Next time when pulling out paper towels in the toilet, try pulling only 1 piece? It may be (should be) enough for your use, unless ur hands are as big as gorilla's.
Just by this, we can slow down the rate of depletion of paper towels in the toilet by at least half the rate! Let's try it! Do it! hehe.
(wanted to share this during AH Basic sharing for "Protect our Environment" but I tot it'll sound silly...) bleahhh....
and who knows. you may not need paper towels if you stand in front of the mirror for too long (the hands get dried up). haha!

Just by this, we can slow down the rate of depletion of paper towels in the toilet by at least half the rate! Let's try it! Do it! hehe.
(wanted to share this during AH Basic sharing for "Protect our Environment" but I tot it'll sound silly...) bleahhh....
and who knows. you may not need paper towels if you stand in front of the mirror for too long (the hands get dried up). haha!

What I did on my Leave day
I'm on leave today, trying to clear leave bit by bit cos we (being the unprivileged AH pre-reggers) cannot take one whole stretch of leave. So on leave today without much planning on what to do...
Decided to do hair rebonding. Found a cheap and gd home salon (from online forums) and thus, went to her house. Just a simple 4 room flat with 1 room turned salon. There were 5 customers at one shot! haha. All of us were taking turns applying the cream, shower the hair, blowing dry the hair.. and even had to blow ourselves haha (DIY sia)
she used Shiseido rebonding and it was quite not bad. too bad she din help to cut the hair (i guess she only learnt rebonding, dyeing and perming from Kimage academy). It was just $65.
So i headed to Kimage to do a $38 haircut and a $55 protein treatment and I had a 20% discount cos it's a Thursday. was psychoed into buying the shampoo ($39 --> $32 after discount).
The total fee for Rebonding, Haircut and treatment was only $140 which was a huge savings when compared to $208 which the usual salon quoted me (and they were not using Shiseido).
So, i saved a total of $60 although travelling quite abit, buden the travelling fees were at most $4 haha.
If u're interested in this home salon, u can ask me, but it's VERYY west haha.

Medication Error
Toddler rushed to hospital after clinic's medicine mistakes
another evidence showing that a Pharmacist is actually REQUIRED in clinics! How could the clinic assistant reply like that... "I dun noe"... hello, something happened, u want to say you kena black magic and "knocked out" izit? just feeling quite pissed with someone like her with no sense of responsibility.
and see my comment in Medication errors - no one wants to find out...

The birthday test
Suave and compromising. Careful, cautious and organized. Likes to point out people's mistakes. Likes to criticize. Stubborn. Quiet but able to talk well. Calm and cool. Kind and sympathetic. Concerned and detailed. Loyal but not always honest. Does work well. Very confident. Sensitive. Thinking generous. Good memory. Clever and knowledgeable. Loves to look for information. Must control oneself when criticizing. Able to motivate oneself. Understanding. Fun to be around. Secretive. Loves sports, leisure and traveling. Hardly shows emotions. Tends to bottle up feelings. Very choosy, especially in relationships. Systematic.
saw many ppl doing this on FB. only a few qns. quite true, but quite funny too (in some sense some are not exactly true)
1. i'm not secretive wad... hahaha.
2. i'm not kind and sympathetic (more like i'm quite numbed by the multiple comorbidities some ppl may have, in fact, i tink i'm abit cold)
3. Must control when criticising - i think many (esp Attachee and Weiying, the toxic friend) can attest to that. i can really point out every single flaw and be irritable for 1 whole day unless i get more sleep :P
the rest are to some extent, quite accurate.

"Pain"-ball Pharmleague
Paintball is quite a dangerous game to me. The bruises were quite swollen now, e.g. this one (at my tummy) got a ring of "orh-ceh" (blue-black) around it after a few hrs, the redness still there. bruised at my tummy and my scapula area, near the neck. Both with some contusion and redness.
I think... I wun wan to play again. haha. and i'm not gd at it anyway. I'm really quite blur. to be still trying to understand the game after 1 round.. oops.. but towards the end, it was still qt fun (but still dangerous)

Sick again
was having fever as high as 38plusplus and coughing my lungs out for a few days before i was diagnosed possibly pneumonia. given 2 types of antibiotics (clarithromycin and ciprofloxacin - not first line but prob due to my Penicillin allergy and being in the hospital so the doc wanted to cover pseudomonas too). my white blood cells and neutropils were like... 2 times upper limit normal (cant rmb the exact value).
realised that taking 2 antibiotics at once will cause pronounced nausea. coupled with my headache due to tea withdrawal. terribleness.
and today, found that my right little finger tendon abit weird, like got crunchy sound. gg to see tui na tmr morning.
and i've to study for board exams. asked my preceptor whether i can pause the inpatient rotation for 1 week before continuing, so that my body normal flora can grow back first.
scary right
another reason for me not to work in inpatient. i've weak immune system.

Attachee showed up at my door with roses :)
Then passed me a bottle of saga seeds which he claimed to have painstakingly picked up in the scorching hot sun some days ago
Then slacked ard to eat some light lunch, then went to his house to slack somemore b4 going out to cycle at Pasir Ris park. The sun was still quite bright when we were taking this photo, so the eyes abit weird :P
After some intense cycling, went back to his house to wash up and went to E!Hub New York New York for dinner. Queue was super long! and the staff were super busy (blur).
This is the Root Beer Float
Attachee's Medium Rare Steak with Mushroom Sauce (portion was too small compared to the price he has to pay :( sadddd)
