Things to do in 2011

I'm not going out for any countdowns due to the coming exams!

  1. In 2011, swim freestyle properly, full length lap and proper strokes
  2. In 2011, grow spiritually by praying regularly, reading bible regularly
  3. In 2011, reduce weight, or at least look trimmer by using abdominal fats as surrogate marker :P
  4. In 2011, practise cello studies (Deak, and Sevcik) on the cello purposefully without being bored, at least 2 times a week --> hoho...
  5. In 2011, walk to work for JUR days --> to do so, wake up in time and dun dillydally
  6. Before I turn 30, I want to pass grade 8 in cello....
  7. As I need to save up my leave for studies and clerkship (2012), I dun foresee myself going on long luxurious hols. So at least before I reach 30, I want to go US and Japan :)
  8. Pray for God to get ready myself to go on a mission trip before I die --> not stating a date here as we all dunno God's plans for us
  9. Grow as a couple with Felix
  10. Spread the Green message. By 2011, to quit beef, wild fish and eat more veggies. I know I can't be a vegan.... yet.

青峰+娃娃=絕配

被雨傷透 { 幾米音樂劇 向左走向右走 }

I just want to say that this song is wonderful :)

This song can cheer you up, cos it's by Cheer!!! :P

My story

Background:

Part of being a Christian is that we can tell our story to others. This is the story of how we became a Christian, and what it means for us to be a Christian.

Preparing to tell our story helps us make our own thinking clear and helps us to be always prepared to give an answer to everybody who asks you to give a reason for the hope you have (1Peter 3:15)

This is part of my assignment for the membership class. By putting it onto my blog, I view it as an important personal story and also to testify for His presence in my life. Being a Christian is one of the best event that had ever happened to me :)

I did not grow up in a Christian family. My family members are Buddhists and my mother is a devout Buddhist. When I was young, I had always been taught the Buddhist traditions and I thought that I would also become a devout Buddhist. I could not understand why Christians do not tolerate any other religions, and I thought that it was wrong to be so “intolerant”.

When I knew my boyfriend, Felix (currently fiancé) who is a Christian, I thought that it is “alright” for me to remain a non-believer, as long as I do not interfere with his worship and religious affairs. When Felix brought me to church, it was just to “fulfil his wish” and I would attend Sunday morning service every alternate week. It was a chore and I dreaded waking up early on Sundays which I usually slept in. I complained. However, I still felt obliged to attend every alternate week.

After a couple of months of grudging Sunday mornings, I felt that I begin to agree with the sermons which often strike a chord in me. I started going to church every week and gradually, I believe in God. One year after attending church, I said the sinner’s prayer after a sermon on 6 June 2009. My pastor later revealed to me that Felix and he prayed for my salvation the night before. When I heard that, I felt that God is a true and living God.

After a few more months of worship in that church, Felix and I decided to visit ORPC in February 2010. We liked the messages from the sermons and also the Presbyterian setting (our previous church is a Charismatic one). We attended Christianity Explained (CE) course too and it has reaffirmed my faith. I feel I am better able to defend my faith and spread the good news to my friends and family who are non-believers. The abundance of reading materials from CE has also answered some of the uncertainty I had. We grew to like ORPC and its strong adherence to the bible. We look forward to continue to walk the faith and serve God in ORPC.

Feedback to Jetstar

Hi,

My flight was previously delayed for 20 hours and a few people from our flight had complained to Jetstar regarding this issue and they mentioned in an email that Jetstar will contact the passengers who were listed in the attached list for the redemption of $50 Jetstar voucher.

As I did not receive any phone call, I tried to contact Jetstar Singapore customer service at 8006161977. The line was on hold for at least 15 minutes. I tried a second time on another day and decided to be more patient. I waited for at least 10 minutes.

The operator did not know what was the whole issue about and when I initiated to offer the Case ID, he said it wasn't necessary. However, he did not know the whole case and proceeded to tell me that I would receive an email in 4 working days. The email address I provided was chia.hui.shan@gmail.com.

It was more than 4 days now, in fact, it is probably more than 2 weeks since I called. I did NOT receive any email from Jetstar.

A few points I wish to highlight to the management of Jetstar:

1. Poor service recovery. Flight had been delayed for almost 1 day. One of your staff mentioned that Jetstar will contact the passengers who are listed in the attached list for the redemption of $50 Jetstar voucher. There was NO news.

2. Jetstar customer service line was put on hold for too long, more than 15 minutes. This long wait will further aggravate an already-angry customer.

3. Telephone operator did not bother to check the issue, even upon customer's offer to provide the case ID number. He simply pushed it to an email response which he did not follow up with.

4. Lastly, email response was not delivered as promised.

You may or may not reply. I'm not really interested in the voucher redemption anymore. These are honest feedback from me, who is a customer also dealing with customer service.

EEErie

I was at the nursing home. The meeting room which I used to do work was occupied by a social worker and the treatment room air-con was down.

The nurse showed me a "private room" and told me I could use it.

Me: Oh that's where those richer patients stay, single bed room.

Nurse: Ya you can use it, she just died.

*goose bumps* Although I knew I didn't have to be worried, I was feeling a little spooky... haha.

Tioman 25 - 27 Jun 2010

Resort was shabby and alot of unnecessary waiting time. But expectations had to be lowered, and we grab the opportunity to just relax during waiting time and take fun pictures which we normally wouldn't take. Coupled with great company, the trip was good :)
First attempt to snorkel. Love the fishes and how they swim past me when bread was near haha. Coral was very fascinating too :) and a fish bit me, thinking i'm a piece of bread... -_-

Invested in a "Sarong" too!!! and tasted great food (organic veggies and fresh seafood) YUM!

I'm a designer product :P

I was reading some articles distributed by the discipleship group.

I am proud I'm not a product of apes, but designed by Him.

This means that... the A level Biology topic (optional topic) is not real. It's the Darwin's theory of evolution. No wonder it's optional, it's not even a fact.

If evolution is real, animals would have extreme features of extremely fittest by now, and instead of animals getting extinct, there should be derivation of new species. And perhaps even Man can develop into different species like those who can swim and with webbed feet...

The slim chance of a Big Bang aligning and synchronisation a few molecules of C, H and O and a few phosphates to make up the DNA and finally into a single cell. And this single cell must be able to survive and produce more cells and by some mutation, create some tissue and into a living form. and then, from the living form evolve into the different species we have today, including making 50% of them male and 50% of them female... The chance is so (very)^1000 slim, if you think about it.

And hence, I'm convinced that I'm not a product from the apes..

A "new" direction

Signed up for a "Christianity Explained Course" at ORPC. It runs for 5 weeks (once a wk lesson) and this is the first module. Total discipleship course is 7 months. Just attended the first one today and I was quite motivated to gain more insight in order to defend my faith. Hope that I've enough time for everything on hand now!

A typical day (if I'm at home) after work for me now:
- 1 hr of cello
- Around 1 hour of Masters course or other Pharmacy reading up
- Any leftover time to use to read up on bible and the "marriage" book which Felix's mother passed to us

and then aim to slp by 11ish.

I must say, it's quite a tiring routine. But I think it's quite fulfilling! :)

shucks.. need to fill in some time for Music Aural...

CNY with the physiotherapist

on CNY D3, my mum's friends came over to our place and there's this mum's friend's daughter who is a physiotherapy student.

she assessed my gait, squats with 1 leg, jumps landing on 1 leg, and palpate my patella. she made a few comments which may be quite true about my bad leg:
  1. my bad leg i.e. right leg, may be due to my multiple ankle sprains when I was younger, and so my right knee has to compensate when I run. thus, my right knee underwent wear and tear more significant compared to my left knee
  2. my right leg patella was slightly misaligned more towards the inner of the axis of the tendon
  3. my balance with my right leg was poorer when I was standing on my right leg
lastly, she taught me how to strengthen my left hip muscle to bring up my right pelvis.

woah.... it was a gd PT (physiotherapy) session :)

A walk to Limbang Green

Limbang Green is just a 5-minutes away away from Yew Tee MRT station.

HDB signboard is up

It's really quite near the MRT track though, so if we can get a unit there, we hope that it would not be too low, probably aiming for higher than 10 floors.

It's near Yew Tee CC, and there's a church behind, so we've a backup plan if we oversleep on Sundays haha!
Just joking :P

There's a primary sch just across the road. at the MRT track side. This MRT track is facing the East, and we want to avoid the West too because of the setting sun. Maybe a north or south facing is better...
There's also La Salle school nearby, heard it's a gd sch.

Checked out Yew Tee Sq and Yew Tee Point. There's an NTUC Fairprice in Yew Tee Point for grocery shopping. Doctors and dentists around the area too...

*prays for a gd queue number*

March 2010

  • get a queue number for Limbang Green (prays for a gd number)
  • know whether my Masters funding is approved
  • be a certified Smoking Cessation Consultant (tt's a very high class name... consultant, that's wat they call it)
  • be a full-fledge ACC pharmacist
  • have 3 nursing homes to visit
it'll be an exciting and busy month :)
