Shopping at Bugis & Mustafa

went to join Nick and DanielKang for shopping at bugis yesterday. I initially went with the intention of getting a "gai gai" bag from Bugis Village but after walking around for like 40minutes after dinner, I really cant find anything that I really like and dun mind spending to get it.. so decided to roam to look at watches.

then we went to Mustafa!!! The 24-hr shopping centre. Went around for like 1.5 hrs and I got a money belt for $8.50 and LipIce for $3. Danielkang bought the LipIce too and he felt embarrassed when he was paying -_- Nick din buy anything from Mustafa, his taste is apparently too high HAHA.

oh before the bugis street shopping with them we were eating dinner at the Bugis Junction Food Court with alison. After eating the cleaning auntie came to clean our tables, then she started talking to Nick "Are you working already?", "Your friends ah?", "You went army already?"... walauz like PENGZ la :P HAHA. so i've got some conclusions

1. the cleaning job is really very sianz
2. Nick reminds the auntie of her son -_-
3. Nick is an auntie sha shou :P

(i wun go into the details) the shallowest person i've ever "known"

2. sick. kena sore throat and fever. tried this...

taste like nutri-tea and really brings down the heatiness. :)

PLUCK - The Specialists

FYI

This is to inform that the Health Sciences Authority (HSA) has suspended the sales of all registered oral nimesulide products. The suspension of sales has been prompted by Irish Medicines Board's recent suspension of all oral nimesulide-containing products. HSA has conducted a review of the safety profile of nimesulide and concluded that the risk-benefit balance of nimesulide is unfavourable because of the risk of severe hepatic reactions, as well as the availability of alternative drugs to treat the conditions that nimesulide is indicated for. Doctors are advised not to prescribe nimesulide to new patients and to review alternative treatment options for patients currently taking nimesulide.

Public Consultation on draft Pharmacists Registration (Amendment) Bill

11 Jun 2007

The Ministry of Health (MOH) and the Singapore Pharmacy Board (SPB) are proposing to amend the Pharmacists Registration Act (PRA) to ensure that it is relevant to the current practice and new developments in the field of pharmacy.

The key amendments introduced include compulsory continuing professional education for pharmacists, the setting up of a Pharmacist Specialists Register, and the introduction of a more rigorous disciplinary proceedings framework. The amendments will include the conversion of the current Singapore Pharmacy Board to a new statuary body known as the Singapore Pharmacy Council.

Objectives of Amendments to the Act

Continuing Professional Education (CPE)
The proposed introduction of CPE, or lifelong learning, is intended to ensure that pharmacists in Singapore keep current with the latest knowledge and developments in medicine, pharmacy and biomedical sciences. In order to continue providing quality healthcare and optimised drug therapy, pharmacists must maintain the highest standard of professional competence by keeping abreast with the progress of pharmaceutical knowledge.

Register of pharmacists specialists
The Ministry hopes that by establishing a new Register of Pharmacists Specialists, and recognising pharmacists for their qualification, expertise and experience in specialty fields, this would encourage members of the profession to develop and excel in specific areas of pharmacy practice.

Conditional and temporary registration
In the global race to attract talent, the proposed introduction of conditional and temporary registration will give the Singapore Pharmacy Council greater flexibility to register foreign-trained pharmacists, who may contribute to the rapidly developing pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors in Singapore.

Disciplinary framework
With the growth and development of a more sophisticated pharmacy practice, the Ministry anticipates that the profession will in future face more complex professional misconduct and ‘fitness to practise’ issues. As such, it proposes to introduce a more rigorous professional disciplinary framework. This is in line with the systems in place for the medical, dental and nursing professions.

Public Consultation

MOH would now like to seek the views and feedback of the public, pharmacy professionals and the professional society on the draft Pharmacists Registration Bill. The public consultation document is attached and can also be found on the MOH website at http://www.moh.gov.sg/mohcorp/econsultation.aspx. All feedback should reach the Ministry by 6 July 2007.

GSS-ed!! (finally)

very happy!! shopped for 3 hours at PS with Xueting (aka zuee) and got about 6 items for myself!

Ripples Slippers from Hula & Co. $15.90

next went to e-base, wanted to buy a shorts but the size i wanted would only come after 5pm so i left my contact with them.

den, went to PMK (Pure Milk) and got 2 skirts at $15.00 each! hahaha. yay

walked around and looked for shoes. got this "go out" slippers at $19.90 from DMK. yay!

then went back to basement to look for e-base again but went into "outfitter girls" instead. got a top for $28.00 which is also on sale :) green and white top.

then e-base called. went there and bought the shorts. then when the cashier said "$15.60" i was like "huh, $15.60?"... cos i thought it would be around $20 since the pricetag for the other shorts on the same rack says "39.00" and there was supposed to be a 50% discount. and so, i was very happy :)

left PS feeling 满载而归 even though i'm going PS again tmr for Tuba Shrek outing hehe! and ya, i only shopped in PS today and already bought so many things. imagine what happens if i shopped the whole of orchard. HAHA (gimme money first :P )

oh ya, then i bought a small gift for bday for my colleague who taught me quite alot of things. it's this gadget from ActionCity which can be plugged into the USB of the computer, and then the plate while heat up to 50 deg celsius so that when u put a mug onto the plate, it'll be heated up :) so cute! and it's a real good invention. and that series of gadgets also include an ashtray which is in the form of a pair of lungs which can cough when a cigarette butt is placed on it (so as to deter ppl from smoking... -_- ) and there's also an eye massager which can be charged when connected to USB. nice gifts! hah. and affordable too! $6.95 and with a 10% discount for fathers' day (although it wasn't meant for my dad haha :P )

i luv GSS!!!

Lousy playing

was so sleepy the whole day, when i initially took up the double bass to practise, i wanted to go home and sleep. haha...

den i wanted to join the tuba section during sectionals (since i missed playing with the section), however, i realised what i wanted to practise was different from what they were doing. did some "warm-ups" and "tonguing exercises" with them.. -_- argh. then when we played Einzugsgalope and 76 trombones. during 76 trombones, i blanked out at parts which i had practised so much last few weeks. i thought i shd stop wasting time blanking out, and went outside to practise. conference room was occupied. was outside, with many NUSSO ppl taking a break from their practice. i was being too sensitive or what, but i felt like i'm being scrutinised when i was practising. after i checked that the conference room was empty, i moved my things inside (again) and practised inside. feeling quite lousy. really. how many weeks of work but it always starts with unfamiliar notes staring at me. and i was constantly mixing up with cello fingering at the start of every session. i'm beginning to wonder whether the switch of instrument was a right move.

and it's very disturbing to see less than half the band turns up for sectionals. so what if last week, after yokes' nagging, more ppl turned up for sectionals to practise? it din work this week again. everybody seems to put more effort in the "fun" part of the italy trip. but are we going to just go dere, show our face, and play some crap? eeeks. it feels weird that for something lidat, u dun see everybody (or not even the majority) of the band trying harder, putting in more effort. i heard that songs for band of festival are difficult, but why do i only see the same few ppl practising?

i was telling yokes that if the band sounds bad tmr, it's going to be my turn to nag on email liaoz haha. ppl seems to be taking LT's magical formula for granted.

Shopped for Italy stuff

Feeling quite fulfilled cos I've bought/made some things which are necessary (hmm?) for Italy trip.

so after my cello lessons, i met my parents at chinatown complex as they told me about this shop selling reasonable priced spectacles with fast service. and also cos chinatown is also a place where u can get some of the best deals. [and i like going out with parents... u all noe why :P OOPS!]

1. made a new "spare" specs at 15mins Optical House. my parents actually thought that all specs will be ready in 15 mins, but since mine is high index (got a high degree), it can only be collected the next day earliest.
the reason why i need a new "spare" specs is cos i slept on my old spare specs aka my "home" specs after the late night Pirates that day, and it broke... :( not like i like to buy specs lo. ahah but i like the idea of having 2 specs haha. thinking of bringing my new "spare" specs to Italy, cos it looks more durable. It's a matt silver front, with light blue sides, half frame.
$160

2. ordered daily Acuvue (1 month) from that optical shop too. daily disposable ones save the hassle of bringing saline and cases and most importantly, it's clean and easy to handle.
$76

3. bought a 55cm long haversack at Lucky Traveller Shop at People's Park Complex. fits criteria for hand-carry luggage. Black-orange Outgear.
originally $89. 杀价-ed: $80

4. bought a maroon One Polar pouch at the same bag shop. can contain my waterbottle and wallet, plus other stuff. (hmm i hope wun really need umbrella there? cos mayb cant fit haha)
originally $39. 30% discount: $28

so by right, the total spendings at the Traveller Shop is $107.. tried to ask for $100. but only managed to 杀 to $105. ok la, not bad. haha..

5. oh bought a "retro"-looking hairband for my HC concert this Tuesday. i think can use in Italy too, haha.. for washing face. yea
$2.90 but that's at Jurong East. haha

and juz to share something, i think my mum is damn enthu and likes to do stuff (creative stuff). i was telling her abt the bath bag thing Ian told me yesterday. and she started doing the thing, she cant even nap properly cos she's thinking abt how to do it.

okiez, the bath bag is like something which Ian saw from dunno where. (i'm going to describe it, mayb it'll be something different from what Ian describe...) it's like a hanger thing, with cloth that drops down after u unbuckle it, and it's supposed to be rolled up if not in use. so that u can hang it in the toilet, with slots for ur toiletries and a mirror at the top. supposed to be a portable toiletries holder for the Italy trip which Ian was looking for.

then my mum 灵机一动 and started thinking of how to do it. asked me a for a rough design. den she started cutting out spoilt unbrellas, as umbrella cloth is waterproof and good for such things. even the bone of the umbrella can be used to make the top of hanger part. and then she's going to use an old mirror and slotting it into a transparent slot which she's going to make. I think it's like half done now :)

:) :) :)
